“Do what you love and you’ll never work another day in your life.”

It’s true.

Welcome to what I love! I started making signs and refinishing furniture for my own home a few years ago and I was immediately hooked. I’m at my best when I can be creative. I started A Thing of the Past so I could share that creativity with my clients. Whether it’s a gift or an item for someone’s own home, I love making something beautiful out of a plain piece of wood or an old beat up piece of furniture. What can I create for you?

Hand-crafted wooden signs.

Is there a quote you love, or something you want to commemorate, like a wedding date or the birth of a child? Why not make it a part of your home? I start my signs by selecting high-quality wood. I personally cut it, sand it, stain and seal it, create the design, and hand-paint it. Every sign is finished with a protective topcoat and hardware for display in your home. I have stock designs and items for all occasions, but I also love creating custom signs and bringing my clients’ vision to life.

Refreshed furniture.

There’s nothing better than finding an old beat-up piece of furniture and making it new again. Using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, I take sad old furniture and give it new life!
